Dogsledding Trips with Mahoosuc Guide Service – January 2020
Happy New Year from Mahoosuc!!!
Happy New Year from Mahoosuc!!!
We have had a very busy start to our dogsledding season and it promises to continue until spring. Trips have been going very well and we have met some interesting people from all over the world. One weekend was a dogsledding honeymoon for a couple from France, another trip was a reunion for two sisters from Germany with one now living in the states.
Many families are coming to us to enjoy the outdoors together “unplugged”. It feels good to be able to provide this opportunity for them. We were very pleased to have Tom and Lily Rosenberg with us for a week during our Xmas/New Year’s rush to help with guiding and all the logistics of the “behind the scenes” in preparing before and cleaning up after trips. Tom has been working here off and on for 13 years and we are always happy to have him back.
Joe is our new apprentice for the winter and a big help to us. The dogs and clients like him immediately, even our couple of shy dogs took a liking to him even after one week.
We had a very nice family stay with us for a few days and joined us on a dogsledding day trip on Umbagog Lake. They produced this great video about their experiences with us, click here to view, nicely done Sharon!
You can see our winter dogsledding schedule on our website, many trips are full already but we do still have some openings for day and overnight trips through March.
If you have ever wanted to travel by dog team with Inuit we are offering a unique experience to Kuujjuaq, Ungava Bay in Nunavik April 12-21, 2020. We have two spaces left on this trip.
I hope you are enjoying this winter! Perhaps we will see you on a trip…

Guided Allagash river trips are one of the most pleasant and relaxing canoe trips in Maine. You can see Moose, Eagles, and all the wildlife.
I have been guiding on the Allagash river since 1974 and over the years I’ve seen a distinct pattern in terms of usage. Canoeists must use designated campsites on the waterway and there is no reservation system. In peak periods if paddlers don’t secure a campsite by mid-day or shortly thereafter, they may end up […]
For many avid canoeists, the Allagash River Canoe Trip is on their bucket list, and for good reason. Protected by the citizens of Maine through a referendum in 1966, the mandate was to preserve its “forever wild” state. It truly is some of the wildest areas left in the east. In this article, we’ll help […]
I really want to express my appreciation for the way that you guide – of learning about Inuit and Cree and northern people’s lifestyles of canvas wall tents, of goodies cooked by a local lady and her daughter. You go beyond the “how to” and into the why and in a quiet way support that with your actions.
