Fall is here and winter is on it’s way!
We want to share some photos of our sled dogs on trips this spring, summer and fall. It is always such a joy to have them on our canoe trips and to get “one on one” time with them away from the pack.

The dogs are getting ready to pull in harness as the days are finally cooling off enough to start running them. This winter proves to be very busy with many bookings already. Click here to see the 2021/22 dog sledding schedule. Here is a nice video put together by some clients a couple of years ago of their time with us. We really enjoyed having them out with us!
We welcome Auden as one of our winter apprentices. He is already learning a lot and he has already won over the affection of our shy dogs!
We are working on setting up our winter camps by freighter canoe getting ready before freeze up. It is very quiet and beautiful on the lake right now as we are the only people on it except a few ducks and loons.
Kevin has been teaching some paddle making workshops in his wood shop in October. Polly just returned from a nice canoe trip on the Green River in Utah!
Hope to see some of you on the trail this winter!

Guided Allagash river trips are one of the most pleasant and relaxing canoe trips in Maine. You can see Moose, Eagles, and all the wildlife.
I have been guiding on the Allagash river since 1974 and over the years I’ve seen a distinct pattern in terms of usage. Canoeists must use designated campsites on the waterway and there is no reservation system. In peak periods if paddlers don’t secure a campsite by mid-day or shortly thereafter, they may end up […]
For many avid canoeists, the Allagash River Canoe Trip is on their bucket list, and for good reason. Protected by the citizens of Maine through a referendum in 1966, the mandate was to preserve its “forever wild” state. It truly is some of the wildest areas left in the east. In this article, we’ll help […]
I do not have enough words to thank you. You have given such good attention and care throughout this entire weekend. I am so thankful that both days you tied my laces on my snowshoes. That made the whole day comfortable. When we were relaxing in the cook tent you went and started the fire in our tent. And first thing in the morning I see you again starting the fire so we can get ready comfortably!! You have worked very hard almost every minute of the day. You are amazingly organized, composed, efficient, diligent, soft spoken, kind, effective, detail oriented, attentive, punctual and a very very disciplined person. Dog sledding experience is unique. I was comfortable all the time because of your and Carolyn’s kind consideration. Your staff is very respectful and attentive to every one.
